GABORONE — Botswana is strengthening its technology investment ecosystem after the Botswana Tech Fund launched a £50 million venture fund aimed at supporting early-stage startups across Southern Africa.
The fund is expected to provide pre-seed investment ranging from £25,000 to £100,000, alongside accelerator support designed to help promising technology companies develop products, attract investment, and expand their operations.
Technology analysts say the initiative could strengthen Botswana’s position as a regional hub for startup finance and digital innovation. Early-stage companies often struggle to secure funding, making targeted venture capital an important source of support for entrepreneurs developing new technologies.
The fund could benefit startups working in areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech, software, digital services, climate technology, and other innovation-driven sectors.
The new investment initiative also creates opportunities for Botswana to attract more technology entrepreneurs, investors, and regional innovation partnerships.
As startup funding expands across Southern Africa, the Botswana Tech Fund’s new venture capital programme could help accelerate the growth of the region’s next generation of technology companies.
