According to the government's latest announcements, four important appointments have been made:
- Marc-André Loko has been appointed Director General of the National Agency for the Identification of Persons (ANIP).
- Farell Folly will lead the National Agency for Cybersecurity and Resilience.
- Aristide Adjinacou has been appointed Director General of the Agency for Information Systems and Digital Technology (ASIN).
- Ouanilo Medegan Fagla will head the National Center for Digital Investigations.
The government has also appointed technical advisers specialising in artificial intelligence across several ministries.
The new AI advisers include Dave Dassi at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mahuvivi Turibio Keke at the Ministry of Internal Trade and Gaëlle Pricile Gangbè at the Ministry of Digital Transformation. Their appointments are intended to support responsible and inclusive AI development.
Why is this important?
These appointments place cybersecurity, digital identity and artificial intelligence at the centre of Benin's technology administration.
As more government services move online, protecting personal information, securing digital infrastructure and improving the reliability of public technology systems are becoming increasingly important.
The new leadership teams will face the challenge of strengthening institutional capacity and supporting the country's wider digital transformation ambitions.
Benin's technology sector could enter an important new phase as the country seeks to build a more secure, modern and digitally connected public administration.
