Mozambique is strengthening digital safety in its education sector after secondary-school teachers in Zambézia Province received specialised cybersecurity awareness training in Quelimane.

The initiative was organised by the Agency for Digital Transformation and Innovation (ATDI) to help educators understand the growing risks associated with digital technologies and protect sensitive information used in schools.

According to the report, the training covered threats involving computer systems, professional email accounts and other digital tools increasingly used in educational institutions.

Participants learned how to identify suspicious online activities, prevent potential cyber incidents and adopt safer practices when handling digital information.

The programme comes as Mozambique continues expanding digital transformation across public institutions. Schools are increasingly dependent on technology for communication, administration and access to educational resources, making cybersecurity awareness an important part of modern education.

Protecting teachers, students and school information from online threats is becoming an essential priority as more educational activities move into digital environments.

The initiative also highlights the importance of providing educators with practical digital skills so they can recognise cyber risks and encourage safer technology use within their schools.
