KHARTOUM — Sudan’s political scene is entering a new phase as rival political forces advance separate initiatives aimed at ending the war and shaping the country’s future political transition.

Civilian and political groups meeting in Nairobi have approved a joint political vision for Sudan’s next phase, alongside an intensive three-month action programme focused on humanitarian, political, diplomatic, and rights-related issues.

The political development comes as army-aligned authorities also pursue a separate internal dialogue process designed to bring Sudanese political forces together inside the country.

The parallel initiatives highlight the growing effort to define a political path beyond the conflict and create a framework for a future civilian transition.

Political groups are expected to focus on expanding participation, addressing accountability, protecting civilian rights, and building consensus around a national settlement.

Analysts say the challenge will be whether the competing political tracks can eventually be brought together into an inclusive process accepted by a broad range of Sudanese actors.
