The approval of the 2026–2033 Government Action Programme represents an important political and policy development for Benin, setting out a framework for government priorities over the coming years.
During the meeting, ministers approved several measures with implications for public administration, industrial development, social protection and national security.
One of the most significant decisions was the establishment of the Industrial Development Fund of Benin, with an announced capital of 100 billion CFA francs. The fund is intended to help industrial businesses access financing, strengthen investment and expand local manufacturing.
The government also approved the creation of a National Observatory for Social Progress, designed to strengthen the monitoring of social development and public policies.
Another major decision was the adoption of the 2026–2030 National Strategy against Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction.
Several international agreements, including a convention addressing violence against women and girls, will also be submitted to the National Assembly for ratification.
These decisions signal a broad government reform agenda under President Romuald Wadagni. Attention will now turn to implementation, parliamentary consideration and whether the announced initiatives deliver measurable improvements for citizens and businesses across Benin.
