EL OBEID — Sudan’s strategic city of El Obeid is facing a worsening crisis as intensified drone attacks and shortages of essential supplies threaten civilians and critical infrastructure.

The city, a major commercial hub and capital of North Kordofan, is experiencing growing pressure as attacks disrupt access to water, electricity, fuel, and medical supplies. The deteriorating security situation is also increasing fears of a wider humanitarian catastrophe.

Humanitarian concerns are rising as transport costs increase and access to basic services becomes more difficult. Aid groups and analysts warn that shortages of clean water and medical supplies could create additional public-health risks for residents and displaced people sheltering in the city.
