RABAT — Morocco and France are moving forward with plans for a direct electricity interconnector designed to strengthen energy trade and expand cooperation in renewable power.

The proposed project could allow Morocco to export more renewable electricity to France while creating new opportunities for investment in power infrastructure, clean energy, and cross-border energy systems.

Business analysts say the planned link could open a new commercial dimension in Morocco-France economic relations. Morocco’s growing solar and wind capacity could support future electricity exports while helping European markets diversify their renewable-energy supplies.

The project is also expected to encourage cooperation between energy companies, infrastructure investors, and public institutions on both sides of the Mediterranean.

Industry observers believe stronger electricity connectivity could support Morocco’s ambitions to become a regional clean-energy hub and strengthen its position in European-African value chains.

The proposed interconnector could become a major new business corridor, linking Morocco’s renewable-energy expansion with Europe’s growing demand for cleaner electricity.
