VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles is moving to deepen its economic partnership with India as both countries expand cooperation in fisheries, aquaculture and the blue economy.
Recent high-level discussions focused on marine aquaculture, tuna fisheries, technology, scientific research and sustainable management of ocean resources. The two sides also agreed to explore joint research plans, regulatory cooperation and pilot projects with potential commercial applications.
The initiative comes as Seychelles seeks to generate greater economic value from its marine resources while strengthening sustainable fisheries management.
New investment and technology partnerships could create opportunities for Seychellois businesses in aquaculture, seafood processing, marine services and fisheries technology.
The cooperation also includes plans to improve fisheries data, monitoring and surveillance, with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence identified as potential tools for better resource management.
For Seychelles, the expanding partnership with India could support blue-economy growth, technology transfer and new commercial opportunities while helping protect the country's valuable marine resources.
