Small and medium-sized businesses in Eswatini could gain new opportunities to reach international customers following a partnership between the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority (EIPA) and global logistics company DHL.

The two organisations signed a memorandum of understanding in Mbabane on October 22, 2026, to help local enterprises improve their export readiness, understand international trade requirements and compete in overseas markets.

The partnership combines EIPA’s Export Readiness Programme with DHL’s GoTrade Initiative. Training will cover customs procedures, international logistics and cross-border trade, while EIPA will help businesses identify promising markets and understand the requirements for exporting their products.

The initiative aims to address common challenges faced by smaller businesses, including limited knowledge of foreign markets, complicated customs processes and difficulties arranging reliable delivery to international buyers.

EIPA will identify suitable businesses, monitor their progress and potentially provide mentoring and coaching where resources allow. The programme is expected to begin in November 2026, with registration details for eligible businesses expected to be announced by EIPA.

According to EIPA Chief Executive Officer Sibani Mngomezulu, the partnership supports the country’s ambition to develop 250 additional export-ready businesses and reach E50 billion in exports by 2030.

For Eswatini’s entrepreneurs, the initiative could offer a practical route to expanding beyond the domestic market. Its longer-term impact will depend on how many participating businesses secure overseas buyers, fulfil export orders and generate sustainable revenue.

The next key step is the opening of registration, which aspiring exporters should monitor through official EIPA announcements.
