TRIPOLI — Libya has launched Cultural Season Libya 2026, a major national programme designed to celebrate the country’s heritage while promoting literature, theatre, music, poetry, and contemporary creative expression.

The programme brings together cultural activities involving artists, writers, intellectuals, and creative professionals from across Libya. Its opening events included visits to the National Museum and Tripoli’s historic Old City, alongside a theatre performance inspired by national history and a poetry evening featuring Libyan and Arab poets.

Cultural officials say the initiative is intended to strengthen national identity while creating wider space for creativity, dialogue, and cultural exchange. The programme also highlights Libya’s historic sites, traditional crafts, artistic traditions, and diverse cultural heritage.

The season is expected to continue with conferences, literary discussions, artistic events, and cultural activities designed to connect Libya’s historic legacy with new forms of creative expression.

The launch gives Libya’s cultural sector a major national platform to showcase its heritage, support local talent, and promote culture as a bridge between communities and generations.
