ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Ethiopia is seeing renewed interest from Chinese investors as economic reforms begin to create new opportunities across manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure and other growth sectors.

Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai said on August 26 that Ethiopia's improving investment environment and steady economic growth were encouraging more Chinese companies to explore the market.

The ambassador highlighted Ethiopia's large consumer market and ongoing transformation in industrialisation, urban development and agricultural modernisation as areas offering substantial opportunities for international businesses.

The renewed investment interest comes as Ethiopia works to strengthen private-sector participation and attract foreign capital as part of its broader economic reform programme.

Greater Chinese investment could bring additional capital, technology, industrial capacity and employment opportunities, particularly if new projects expand local production and export capacity.

The development also strengthens Ethiopia's growing economic relationship with China, one of the country's major international business partners.

For Ethiopian businesses, deeper Chinese investment could create new opportunities for partnerships, supply chains, technology transfer and access to international markets.
