Cameroon is attracting fresh technology investment as Cybastion plans a $75 million AI-powered data centre and power plant in the country.
The project was announced during the inaugural U.S.-Cameroon Bilateral Economic and Commercial Dialogue held in Douala, where officials highlighted expanding investment and trade opportunities between the two countries.
The planned facility is designed to combine a sovereign data centre with dedicated power capacity, supporting growing demand for computing, artificial intelligence and digital services.
The investment comes as Cameroon seeks to expand its digital economy and attract private capital into strategic infrastructure. The wider U.S.-Cameroon discussions identified almost $7 billion in potential investment and trade opportunities across areas including technology, energy, infrastructure, critical minerals and logistics.
For Cameroon’s business sector, the Cybastion project could strengthen local digital infrastructure, support new technology services and create opportunities for skilled employment.
The planned investment also highlights the growing role of AI and data infrastructure in Cameroon’s economic development as the country seeks to position itself as a more competitive destination for international investors.
