MORONI, Comoros — Comoros and Tanzania are stepping up efforts to strengthen economic cooperation, with officials identifying trade, investment and financial services as major areas for closer collaboration.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Tanzania’s Finance Minister Khamis Mussa Omar and Comoros Finance, Budget and Banking Sector Minister Moussa Abderemane in Dar es Salaam.
Officials highlighted opportunities in trade and investment, banking, public financial management, infrastructure, energy, tourism and agriculture. Digital revenue collection was also identified as an area where stronger cooperation could deliver economic benefits.
For Comorian businesses, closer economic links with Tanzania could provide improved access to a major regional market while creating opportunities for investors and exporters.
The two countries' renewed economic focus could also strengthen cross-border business activity and support employment and investment in key sectors.
The initiative comes as Comoros seeks to expand its economic partnerships and make better use of its strategic position in the Indian Ocean.
