ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — Ethiopia’s business sector is gaining a new international trade channel after Brazil opened a permanent office of its trade and investment promotion agency, ApexBrasil, in Addis Ababa.

The new presence is aimed at strengthening trade, investment and business partnerships between Brazil and Ethiopia, according to recent business reporting.

The office provides a platform for Brazilian companies seeking opportunities in the Ethiopian market while helping Ethiopian businesses explore commercial links with Brazil.

The move could create new opportunities in agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, technology and other sectors, particularly as Ethiopia continues efforts to expand private-sector investment.

Brazil is already an important agricultural and industrial economy, making closer commercial links potentially valuable for Ethiopia’s efforts to develop productive industries and diversify its trade relationships.

The development comes as Ethiopia continues implementing economic reforms designed to attract more private capital and international investors.

A stronger Brazil–Ethiopia business connection could help expand market access, investment partnerships and technology transfer while giving companies from both countries a new base for exploring opportunities in East Africa and South America.
