Botswana is stepping up efforts to position the Trans-Kalahari Corridor (TKC) as a major regional trade, logistics and investment gateway connecting businesses with markets beyond the country.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Keoagile Atamelang said Botswana needs to strengthen partnerships, attract investment and improve cross-border economic cooperation to maximise the corridor’s potential.

The government is promoting the route as a competitive, reliable and efficient trade corridor, with stronger cooperation between government, private companies, financiers and corridor institutions expected to support investment and business expansion.

The initiative could increase Botswana’s role in regional logistics, industrial development and international trade, while creating opportunities for businesses seeking access to neighbouring markets.

The latest push comes as Botswana continues efforts to diversify its economy and develop infrastructure capable of supporting wider private-sector growth.
