LUANDA — Angola is strengthening its technology capabilities in the energy sector after a group of officials completed strategic training focused on cloud computing, Big Data, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

The training, carried out through cooperation with Huawei Technologies Angola, forms part of a broader digital transformation programme for Angola’s national electricity system. Officials received advanced technical and strategic training designed to support the modernization of energy-sector operations.

Technology experts say the development of digital skills will be increasingly important as Angola modernizes critical infrastructure. Cloud platforms, AI-powered analytics, Big Data, and connected devices can help improve operational monitoring, data management, maintenance planning, and institutional efficiency.

The initiative also includes work toward a national White Paper on digital transformation and future planning, which is expected to help guide Angola’s wider technology modernization efforts.

Industry observers say stronger cooperation between government institutions and technology companies could accelerate digital innovation across the energy sector and create new opportunities for specialized technology professionals.
