LUANDA — Angola is strengthening its preparedness for high-risk infectious diseases through expanded cooperation with China focused on Ebola prevention, diagnosis, biosafety, and genomic surveillance.

A delegation from Angola’s Ministry of Health recently undertook an official mission to China as part of the implementation of the country’s National Ebola Disease Preparedness and Response Plan. The initiative aims to strengthen national capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to potential outbreaks.

Health experts say stronger laboratory systems and disease surveillance are essential for detecting infectious threats at an early stage. The cooperation is expected to support improvements in diagnostic capacity, biosafety procedures, genomic monitoring, and technical skills for health professionals.

The initiative also seeks to establish new strategic partnerships that can strengthen Angola’s wider health-security infrastructure and improve coordination during public-health emergencies.
