Moroccan security authorities have arrested a 22-year-old Swedish national in Tangier following an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities.

The arrest was carried out on September 16 by Tangier judicial police in coordination with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST). An identity check reportedly confirmed that the man was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice linked to an alleged attempted-murder case.

Authorities also said the suspect was using a false identity and presented a driving licence containing falsified identification information during the verification process.

He was placed in custody as part of a judicial investigation into alleged forgery and use of forged documents. Morocco’s Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat has notified its Swedish counterpart about the arrest.

The case highlights Morocco’s continuing international security cooperation and cross-border law-enforcement coordination as authorities track individuals wanted in other countries.
