The annual San Cultural Festival is set to take place in Tsumkwe from 24 to 26 September 2026, bringing communities together to celebrate San heritage, traditions and cultural identity.

Hosted by the Ju|’hoansi Traditional Authority, the festival is expected to provide a platform for cultural expression and the preservation of traditional knowledge. Preparations were underway this week, with community leaders highlighting the importance of keeping cultural practices alive for future generations.

The Tsumkwe gathering comes shortly after Namibia’s Heritage Week, reinforcing national attention on cultural preservation and the transmission of indigenous traditions to younger generations.

With visitors and community members expected to participate, the festival will also put Tsumkwe in the spotlight as an important centre for San cultural heritage in Namibia.
