Namibia’s green-hydrogen industry has received a new boost after Hyphen Hydrogen Energy secured a prospective US$5.93 million (about N$106 million) reimbursable grant from the African Development Bank Group.
The funding is linked to Hyphen’s major green-hydrogen development in Namibia and is expected to support work needed to advance the project and its associated infrastructure.
The development comes as Namibia seeks to attract investment into green hydrogen, renewable energy and value-added industrial activities. The sector is being positioned as a potential driver of new infrastructure, business opportunities and employment.
The AfDB support also highlights growing international financial interest in Namibia’s emerging green-energy economy as the country works to develop large-scale renewable projects and strengthen its position in global clean-energy markets.
