TRIPOLI — Libya is seeking to expand British corporate activity in the country as officials work to strengthen economic cooperation and attract new investment across strategic sectors.
Discussions between Libya’s Economy and Trade Ministry and the British ambassador focused on encouraging the return and expansion of British companies in energy, mining, services, and information technology.
The planned activation of a Libyan-British Business Council could create a new platform for companies to build partnerships, increase trade, and identify investment opportunities. Officials also discussed economic diversification, manufacturing development, and the creation of value-added industries.
Business analysts say stronger cooperation with British companies could bring new expertise, technology, and capital to Libya’s private sector while supporting job creation and economic diversification.
The initiative comes as Libya seeks to improve its investment climate and attract more international companies beyond traditional oil-sector activity.
The renewed business push could give British investors a stronger foothold in Libya while opening new opportunities for Libyan companies in energy, technology, services, and industrial development.
