ASMARA, Eritrea — Eritrea is moving into a new phase of digital data modernisation, with authorities and development partners focusing on advanced analysis and statistical capacity following the completion of major nationwide data collection.

The United Nations Development Programme said the Eritrea Population and Health Survey 2025 has completed its data-collection phase, with work in 2026 shifting toward analysis, reporting, dissemination and strengthening statistical capabilities.

The initiative demonstrates how digital technology is becoming increasingly important for collecting and processing information needed for national planning.

Reliable digital data can help policymakers identify population trends, health needs and economic priorities more accurately.

The programme also includes plans to conduct deeper research on population and health issues, estimate Eritrea’s 2024 GDP and launch the Eritrea Household Income and Expenditure Survey.

For Eritrea’s technology sector, the growing emphasis on data analysis creates potential demand for statisticians, data specialists, digital researchers and information-management professionals.
