Djibouti has become the meeting point for business leaders, investors and companies from across the Francophone world as the country hosts the 7th Francophonie Economic Mission from October 6 to 8.
The high-level event is designed to turn business discussions into concrete investments, partnerships and commercial projects, strengthening Djibouti’s position as a gateway between Africa, the Middle East and global markets.
Five sectors are receiving particular attention: transport and logistics, digital services, renewable energy, healthcare and sustainable tourism. Business-to-business meetings and investment negotiations are being held alongside discussions involving public institutions and financial organizations.
The event comes as Djibouti seeks to diversify its economy beyond its traditional logistics role. The International Finance Corporation has identified the country’s strategic location and modern port infrastructure as major investment advantages, while also highlighting the need for greater private-sector diversification.
For Djibouti, the key challenge now is converting the three-day business meetings into actual investment, jobs and long-term commercial projects.
The mission also places emphasis on young entrepreneurs and employment, giving companies opportunities to connect with emerging talent through recruitment, training and business partnerships.
