Djibouti’s National Assembly has opened its second ordinary parliamentary session of 2026, launching a new period of legislative and government oversight work with the 2027 budget among the main priorities.
Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed presented the government’s broad 2027 budget and policy outlook, with authorities targeting economic growth of around 7%. The plans include continued public investment alongside efforts to improve public administration and strengthen transparency in the management of state resources.
The government also highlighted youth employment, vocational training, digital development and artificial intelligence as important areas for the coming year.
Parliamentary President Dileita Mohamed Dileita stressed that lawmakers have an important role in examining government spending and ensuring that national resources are allocated consistently with Djibouti’s economic and social priorities.
The session also comes as Djibouti responds to humanitarian pressures linked to the conflict in Yemen. Authorities reported the arrival of more than 3,000 displaced people from Yemen, with Parliament calling for continued national and international support.
The new parliamentary session is expected to shape Djibouti’s economic priorities and government accountability agenda for 2027.
