Cotonou is preparing to host the sixth edition of the Rencontres cinématographiques et numériques de Cotonou (RECICO) from 3 to 10 October 2026, bringing together filmmakers and cultural professionals from Benin, across Africa and beyond.

Festival organisers announced that the event received 167 film submissions from 26 countries, with 53 films selected for competition. The selection includes 16 student films from seven African countries.

Haiti will be the guest of honour, with its culture represented through film, literature, fashion and food. The festival’s programme is also expected to include professional networking sessions and a conference focused on cinema and migration, exploring the experiences of migrants and challenges of integration.

The event aims to create opportunities for cultural exchange and collaboration between Haitian and Beninese creative professionals. Organisers say preparations are underway for the October gathering in Cotonou.
