Botswana has marked a decade of cooperation with the United States aimed at strengthening the country's public-health supply systems and improving access to essential medicines.
The milestone was highlighted at an event in Gaborone reviewing the Global Health Supply Chain Program (GHSC-PSM Botswana), which has supported systems for moving life-saving medicines from central stores to health facilities across the country.
Botswana officials said the partnership has contributed to stronger local health institutions and improved health-commodity systems. Deputy Permanent Secretary to the President Omphile Sehurutshe described the cooperation as having evolved toward shared investment and greater national ownership.
The two countries also have a new three-year bilateral health memorandum signed in December 2025, alongside a five-year data-sharing agreement. Botswana is increasing its domestic contribution to health financing under the arrangement.
The latest milestone puts medicine supply chains and health-system resilience firmly in focus as Botswana continues efforts to strengthen public healthcare.
