BISSAU, Guinea-Bissau — Guinea-Bissau is taking another step toward upgrading its trade infrastructure as the Administration of the Ports of Guinea-Bissau (APGB) opens an international tender for new equipment at the Port of Bissau.
The procurement is part of the Port of Bissau Infrastructure Rehabilitation and Equipment Modernization Project (PRIME), financed by the West African Development Bank (BOAD).
The tender covers six 4×2 port tractors with a 40-tonne capacity, together with trailers, spare parts and associated services.
The procurement process opened on September 10 and is scheduled to remain open until October 20, 2026, giving international suppliers an opportunity to participate.
Modern port equipment is expected to strengthen cargo-handling operations and support the efficiency of Bissau’s maritime trade infrastructure.
The investment comes as Guinea-Bissau seeks to improve its business environment and strengthen transport infrastructure. The World Bank has identified transportation and energy investment as important areas for private-sector development, while recent economic reforms have also highlighted the need for stronger infrastructure and institutional capacity.
The port modernization programme could improve Guinea-Bissau’s trade logistics and create stronger conditions for businesses involved in imports, exports and regional commerce.
