BAMAKO, Mali — A Malian army convoy came under attack near Ber in the Tombouctou region, according to reports published October 1, with armed assailants using gunfire and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during the incident.
The convoy reportedly included members of the Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) and Russian Africa Corps personnel. The attack occurred amid continued security challenges in northern Mali, where armed groups remain active.
As of the latest reporting, no verified or consolidated casualty figures had been released. The identities of those responsible for the attack had also not been independently confirmed.
The incident adds to concerns over security along key routes in the Tombouctou region, where military movements and transport corridors have faced attacks.
