Angola’s Justice Officers’ Union (SOJA) has announced a nationwide work stoppage beginning September 24, 2026, potentially affecting justice services across the country.

The union says the decision follows continued disputes over unpaid unified emoluments, which it claims have remained outstanding for more than three months. SOJA says the issue is linked to commitments contained in an agreement reached with authorities in January 2026.

The union is expected to formally notify the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights and other relevant authorities. SOJA has also called on justice officers to maintain calm, discipline and unity during the planned action while keeping dialogue open with the government.

The planned stoppage could place renewed attention on court administration and access to justice services nationwide as authorities and the union consider the next steps.
