Luanda is preparing to host a national conference on electoral transparency and oversight on September 29–30, bringing political actors and civil-society representatives together for discussions ahead of Angola’s 2027 general elections.
The conference, themed around a transparent, fair and democratic electoral system, will examine key issues including voter registration, electoral rolls, voting procedures, vote counting and election observation. Political leaders, lawyers, journalists and civic activists are expected to participate.
Organisers also plan discussions on digital monitoring of election results, civic observation and possible reforms to electoral procedures. The programme includes consideration of a proposed “White Paper on the Electoral Process in Angola” at the conclusion of the meeting.
The event comes as Angola’s political parties and institutions prepare for the 2027 electoral cycle, making electoral administration and oversight a prominent issue in the country’s political debate.
