Tunisia Technology: Digital Transformation Push Gains Momentum

TUNIS, Tunisia — Tunisia is advancing a broad national digital transformation programme as authorities work to modernise public administration and expand the use of digital technologies across the economy.

Under the country’s 2026–2030 Development Plan, Tunisia has established a unified national vision for digital transformation, with strategic priorities and implementation timelines for technology projects. The government has been monitoring progress across 192 digital transformation projects.

The programme is expected to support the digitalisation of government services, helping move more administrative procedures online while improving how citizens and businesses interact with public institutions.

Technology is also being positioned as an economic-development tool, with digitalisation expected to support productivity, innovation and the wider growth of Tunisia’s digital economy.

The initiative comes alongside Tunisia’s broader telecommunications modernisation. Earlier this year, the EBRD agreed to provide up to €190 million to support Tunisie Telecom’s digital infrastructure investment, including 5G upgrades, fibre expansion and connections for up to 200,000 households.

Tunisia’s expanding digital infrastructure and government technology programme could reshape how public services and businesses operate, with implementation expected to remain a key technology story through the 2026–2030 development period.
