Tunisia Health: Digital Transformation Push Expands

TUNIS, Tunisia — Tunisia is advancing a major programme to modernise healthcare through digital technologies and stronger connectivity across health institutions.

The Ministry of Health has been working with Tunisie Telecom on expanding high-speed internet connectivity, particularly across primary healthcare facilities. The initiative is intended to improve data exchange, support telemedicine and strengthen digital health services.

A key part of the programme is the planned use of Tunisian cloud solutions to store and protect national health data. The ministry says the approach is designed to strengthen data security, privacy and local control over sensitive medical information.

Authorities also plan to introduce artificial intelligence applications to support health-system management, data analysis and service optimisation. A digital call centre is additionally being developed to help citizens communicate with health authorities and obtain healthcare information more efficiently.

The programme forms part of Tunisia’s wider efforts to improve healthcare access, digital infrastructure and the delivery of public services. The World Bank has also identified digital systems, emergency care and disease surveillance as priorities in its Tunisia Health System Strengthening Project.

The expansion of digital healthcare could give Tunisian medical facilities new tools for data management, remote services and communication with patients as implementation progresses.
