ADAMAWA, Nigeria — Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 16 terrorists during coordinated military operations across Sector 4 of Adamawa State, according to the Joint Task Force (North East).
The operations were conducted between September 30 and October 1, 2026, with troops carrying out ground engagements, defensive operations and an air operation in the Gombi area.
According to the military, troops ambushed a terrorist enclave in the Boima general area of Gombi Local Government Area, resulting in the reported neutralisation of 16 terrorists. Soldiers also recovered firearms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, pump-action rifles and magazines.
The military also reported a precision air strike after surveillance detected a group of suspected terrorists gathered with motorcycles in the area.
However, the operations also came with losses for the Nigerian military. The Joint Task Force said three soldiers were killed while troops were responding to coordinated attacks on military positions in Garkida and Garaha. Wounded personnel were evacuated for treatment.
Follow-up operations and clearance activities are continuing across the affected areas as security forces maintain operations against armed groups in northeastern Nigeria.
