MOGADISHU, Somalia — Somalia is preparing to host SomNOG9, a major technology and internet infrastructure conference bringing together ICT professionals, policymakers, telecom operators, academics and development partners.

The six-day event is scheduled for September 19–24, 2026, with technical workshops, specialist tutorials and a two-day conference in Mogadishu.

This year’s programme will focus on four major areas: digital infrastructure and sovereignty, integrated digital services, digital identity and trust, and cybersecurity and national resilience.

Specialist sessions will also cover cloud infrastructure and security, online safety, DevOps, automation, digital trust and wireless infrastructure deployment.

The conference comes as Somalia accelerates its wider digital transformation, including efforts to expand digital identity integration across government and financial services.

For Somalia’s technology community, SomNOG9 offers an opportunity to strengthen technical skills, share infrastructure solutions and develop cooperation between government, businesses and internet operators.

The event could also help address some of the challenges created by rapid digital expansion, particularly around cybersecurity, trusted digital services and national control of critical infrastructure.

SomNOG9 is therefore expected to become an important platform for shaping Somalia’s next phase of digital development.
