Seychelles has announced a change in the leadership of the Public Enterprise Monitoring Commission (PEMC), with Estelle Alexis appointed as the commission’s new chief executive.
The Office of the President said Alexis and Colette Jean-Louis, who has been appointed deputy chief executive, took up their respective positions on September 1, 2026.
The appointment comes as the government continues to place greater emphasis on public-sector management, accountability and oversight. PEMC plays an important role in monitoring Seychelles’ public enterprises and supporting effective governance of state-owned entities.
Alexis’ appointment is also notable because she has been selected to chair the newly appointed Investment Appeal Panel, which provides an independent mechanism for investors to challenge certain decisions under the Seychelles Investment Act.
The developments point to a broader effort to strengthen institutional oversight and transparency across key areas of government administration.
For Seychelles, effective monitoring of public enterprises is important because state-owned organisations play a significant role in delivering essential services and supporting the national economy.
The new leadership will now face expectations for stronger governance, financial oversight and accountability as the government continues implementing its administrative agenda.
