Seychelles Business: Saudi Investment Interest Grows

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles is attracting renewed attention from Saudi investors as the two countries explore opportunities to expand economic cooperation in tourism, fisheries and infrastructure.

The Seychelles News Agency reported on September 2 that Saudi Arabia had signalled growing interest in investment opportunities across these sectors during recent bilateral discussions.

The development comes as Seychelles seeks to broaden international investment partnerships while strengthening sectors that are important to its economy. Tourism and fisheries remain major pillars of economic activity, while infrastructure investment is also central to long-term development.

Saudi-Seychelles discussions have also taken place at senior government level. President Patrick Herminie received Saudi Arabia's ambassador-designate in September, with bilateral relations and cooperation forming part of the discussions.

For Seychelles businesses, expanded Saudi engagement could create opportunities in hospitality, fisheries, logistics, infrastructure and related services. Specific investment projects and financial commitments, however, have not been announced in the latest reports.

The renewed engagement places Seychelles-Saudi economic cooperation among developments to watch as the island nation seeks new investment and international business partnerships.
