The Lusaka Securities Exchange (LuSE) says it has made progress in upgrading its infrastructure as it prepares for the possibility of Zambia moving towards a 24-hour economy.

The exchange’s preparations are aimed at supporting extended operating hours if such a change is adopted. However, LuSE has indicated that a decision on whether to operate around the clock has not yet been made.

The development highlights the role of financial-market infrastructure in adapting to changes in business activity and trading schedules. An extended-hours model could require coordination among market participants and supporting systems, alongside decisions on operational arrangements.

For investors and businesses, the exchange’s update offers a look at how Zambia’s capital-market institutions are considering potential changes to the country’s economic operating environment.
