Lesotho’s creative sector took centre stage as the 3rd National Music Awards brought together musicians, performers, industry stakeholders and fans in Maseru.
The awards ceremony, held at the Manthabiseng Convention Centre on September 19, featured performances from several local artists and celebrated achievements across the country’s music industry.
The event also paid tribute to the late Queen Mamohato Bereng Seeiso, with the Queen Mamohato Lifetime Achievement Award presented to veteran artist Ntate Mahase. Chief Seeiso Bereng Seeiso highlighted Queen Mamohato’s talents and cultural legacy during the ceremony.
Organisers reported strong interest in this year’s competition, with about 800 entries received before the field was reduced to 300 nominations.
The awards are providing a platform for Basotho artists to gain recognition while keeping music, history and cultural identity at the heart of Lesotho’s creative scene.
