LIBREVILLE — Gabon is strengthening its emergency healthcare system through new cooperation between the Gabonese Ministry of Health, France’s SAMU du Val-d’Oise, and the Gabonese SAMU Social.

The partnership discussions focus on sharing medical expertise, improving pre-hospital emergency care, strengthening access to healthcare, and expanding training for health professionals.

Health officials say stronger emergency medical systems can improve the speed and quality of care for patients across the country. The cooperation is expected to support the development of practical, operational, and academic training programmes for healthcare workers.

The initiative also aims to strengthen coordination between emergency services and other healthcare institutions, helping improve the response to urgent medical situations.

The new partnership could become an important step in modernising Gabon’s emergency healthcare network and reducing preventable deaths through faster medical intervention.
