Comoros is placing greater emphasis on digital infrastructure resilience, with Comores Cables reviewing its network strategy and strengthening its focus on the submarine cables that connect the island nation to international internet networks.

The company’s 2026 strategic retreat in July examined its performance over the previous 12 months and set priorities for the next stage of its development. The initiative comes as reliable connectivity becomes increasingly important for businesses, government services and everyday internet users across Comoros.

Earlier this year, Comores Cables also participated in an international conference on submarine-cable resilience in Porto, Portugal, highlighting the importance of protecting undersea infrastructure from disruptions. The company described submarine cables as critical infrastructure for international data traffic and digital transformation.

The push is significant for an island country where international connectivity depends heavily on undersea networks. More resilient digital infrastructure could help Comoros reduce the impact of future cable disruptions and support stronger online services.

With internet penetration still developing, improving network reliability could also support the expansion of e-commerce, digital government, online education and technology-based businesses.
