The political party Club 2002-PUR has announced plans to hold its second extraordinary congress in January 2027, as it works to strengthen its local structures and prepare for future electoral contests.

The announcement was made on October 21 in Brazzaville by party spokesperson Louis Gabriel Missatou, following an expanded extraordinary meeting chaired by founding president Wilfrid Guy César Nguesso. The development was reported by the Congolese Information Agency (ACI) on October 22.

Before the national congress takes place, the party plans to hold departmental congresses. These meetings are intended to support its internal restructuring and consolidate its network of local representatives.

During the Brazzaville meeting, the party's permanent secretariat reviewed reports on its general assemblies and preparations for the upcoming congress. The preparatory committee's report was adopted, marking the completion of the committee's assigned work.

Strengthening its presence at neighbourhood, district and village level is a central priority. Nguesso urged newly elected federation presidents to continue building the party's grassroots committees across the country, describing local organisation as important for future electoral performance.

A national organising commission has also been established to coordinate preparations for the January gathering. Nguesso will chair the commission, supported by Antoine Banvidi, Roger Mompelet and Missatou as vice-presidents. Additional technical appointments are expected to be announced through official party documents.

The congress is also expected to take place as Club 2002-PUR approaches its 25th anniversary. Party leaders have called for unity and continued mobilisation during the preparations.

The announcement signals a new phase of internal organisation for the party, although the exact congress date, venue and full agenda have not yet been disclosed. Its progress through the departmental meetings will be an important indicator of how quickly the party can complete its preparations.
