Zimbabwe and the United Arab Emirates have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for regular political consultations, opening a formal channel for dialogue and cooperation between the two governments.

Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Amon Murwira said the agreement builds on existing relations between the countries. He also confirmed that negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) are continuing, with the proposed deal intended to expand trade, investment and market access.

The consultations framework provides a structured basis for officials to discuss bilateral and international matters. Details on the schedule and format of future meetings were not included in the initial report.

The MoU marks a new step in Zimbabwe-UAE diplomatic engagement, while the separate CEPA negotiations remain in progress.
