Sudan is seeking to attract new foreign investment into its livestock industry after reaching an investment understanding with Qatar-based Future Union Holding Company, according to a report published by Sudan Tribune on October 26, 2026.
The proposed partnership focuses on modernising livestock production, improving supply chains and expanding opportunities for agricultural exports. Sudan’s Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, discussed the initiative with Future Union Holding Chief Executive Abdul Jalil Samir.
Under the proposal, modern animal production centres could bring breeding, veterinary care and meat processing together in integrated facilities. The approach is intended to improve productivity and help Sudanese livestock and fisheries businesses serve regional markets more efficiently.
The initiative comes as Sudan seeks to revive economic activity following prolonged conflict that has damaged infrastructure, disrupted trade and put pressure on domestic production.
The ministry has also pledged to address bureaucratic and logistical barriers that can discourage investors. The proposed investment could create opportunities for livestock producers, transport operators, veterinary services and food-processing businesses if projects move forward.
Qatari investments in Sudan are estimated at between $1.7 billion and $2 billion, spread across approximately 60 projects in sectors including agriculture, banking, real estate and mining, according to the report.
However, the livestock initiative remains at the memorandum-of-understanding stage. No confirmed investment amount, construction timetable or operational launch date was provided.
If implemented, the partnership could help strengthen Sudan’s livestock value chain and support regional food supply. Its success will depend on financing, security, infrastructure and the practical execution of the proposed projects.
