Mauritania Hosts International Airfield Safety Partnership
NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania — Mauritania has hosted the United States and 10 African partner nations for a first-of-its-kind airfield safety partnership aimed at strengthening aviation standards and regional cooperation.
The Mauritania Airfield Safety African Partnership Flight took place in Nouakchott from August 3 to 7, bringing together tactical-level aviation specialists from participating countries.
Officials exchanged expertise on airfield safety, risk management and flight-line operations, with the program designed to improve interoperability and strengthen the ability of partner air forces to operate safely.
According to the U.S. Air Force, the initiative focused on sharing best practices and developing a stronger understanding of aviation safety challenges across the region.
The partnership gives Mauritania an important platform for deeper technical cooperation with African and international partners, while highlighting Nouakchott's growing role in regional security and aviation coordination.
