Mali Strengthens Digital Sovereignty With New Tier III Data Center

BAMAKO, Mali — Mali is strengthening its technology infrastructure after inaugurating a Tier III-standard data center in Bamako, a major step in the country's efforts to improve digital sovereignty.

The facility is designed with redundant critical systems and an availability level of 99.982%, allowing operations to continue during maintenance and helping protect important digital services.

The data center is expected to provide secure hosting for strategic government data, electronic administration platforms and public digital services. It could also support shared digital infrastructure across the Alliance of Sahel States (AES).

The project marks an important development for Mali's digital transformation, particularly as governments across the Sahel seek greater control over data storage and critical technology infrastructure.

The new facility could also support the expansion of e-government services, improve data resilience and create a stronger foundation for Mali's emerging digital economy.
