ACCRA, Ghana — The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has completed a five-day national training programme aimed at strengthening the country’s readiness to manage public health emergencies.

The training, held in Accra with technical and financial support from the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), focused on the Public Health Emergency Operations Centre (PHEOC) and Incident Management System (IMS), according to the GHS.

The programme is intended to build capacity for coordinated emergency planning and response, helping health authorities organise operations when public health threats arise. The GHS announcement, published on September 28, did not provide a detailed breakdown of participants or specify any immediate operational changes resulting from the training.

The initiative comes as Ghana continues efforts to strengthen its public health emergency systems and coordination across the health sector.
