ACCRA, Ghana — Ghana is exploring opportunities for expanded broadband connectivity and digital infrastructure through discussions with global technology company Amazon, according to the government’s Information Services Department.
President John Dramani Mahama held talks with senior Amazon executives on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York. The September 27 update said the discussions focused on potential collaboration in broadband expansion and digital connectivity. The engagement forms part of Ghana’s wider effort to attract international technology investment and promote technology transfer, skills development and job creation. The government has presented digital infrastructure as a focus of its economic cooperation with the United States.
No finalized partnership or implementation timeline was announced in the government’s report. Any future agreement could clarify the scope of cooperation, investment commitments and how connectivity projects would be delivered.
