Egypt Technology: Major AI Skills Programme Targets Millions
CAIRO, Egypt — Egypt is expanding its national artificial intelligence skills programme after the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signed a memorandum of understanding with Intel on September 16.
The agreement aims to provide AI training to one million citizens every year for three years, according to Egypt’s state information service and reporting by Ahram Online. The programme will focus on artificial intelligence, responsible technology use and digital trust.
The initiative comes as Egypt accelerates efforts to build a larger technology workforce capable of using emerging technologies across different sectors. Authorities have increasingly highlighted AI skills, digital innovation and entrepreneurship as important elements of the country's technology strategy.
The programme also complements Egypt’s broader efforts to develop its domestic AI ecosystem. Earlier in September, the country announced partnerships involving sovereign AI infrastructure, including large-scale computing and data-centre projects designed to support local AI applications.
At the regional level, Egypt is also participating in wider African initiatives focused on AI, digital infrastructure and technology skills. The Korea-Africa cooperation roadmap adopted in September includes initiatives targeting AI talent and digital transformation.
The scale of the Intel training programme puts AI skills development at the centre of Egypt’s expanding digital-economy agenda, with implementation expected to create opportunities for students, workers, entrepreneurs and technology professionals.
