The Comoros government has completed 61% of its planned actions for the first half of 2026, prompting President Azali Assoumani to call for faster implementation of national priorities.

An official mid-year review found that 975 of 1,592 planned activities had been completed. While the result represents an improvement compared with the 56% implementation rate recorded for the whole of 2025, it remains below the government’s annual target of at least 70%.

The review brought together senior political and administrative officials, including the president of the National Assembly, island governors, government ministers and members of parliament.

President Assoumani emphasized the importance of giving governors a greater role in planning, monitoring and evaluating government programmes, with the aim of bringing public decisions closer to communities.

The government says progress has been recorded in areas including diplomacy, resource mobilization, education, transport, energy, agriculture and digital infrastructure.

The 61% figure now puts pressure on government institutions to accelerate delivery during the second half of the year and demonstrate more visible results to the public.
