ABIDJAN, Côte d’Ivoire — Côte d’Ivoire’s technology sector is turning greater attention toward the practical use of artificial intelligence following the second edition of the AITEK Innovation Summit, held in Abidjan on October 2, 2026.
Held under the theme “From Artificial Intelligence to Impact,” the summit brought together government representatives, technology companies, entrepreneurs and other digital-sector stakeholders to discuss how AI can generate practical value for African economies.
Discussions covered AI and the future of work, African innovation, digital sovereignty, cybersecurity and cyber-resilience, as well as the transition from experimentation to measurable performance.
Ivorian Communication Minister Amadou Coulibaly called for stronger pathways allowing young Africans with AI skills to turn their expertise into employment, businesses, research and locally developed innovation.
The summit comes as Côte d’Ivoire continues to develop its national digital strategy. The government’s 2026–2028 technology acceleration plan includes priorities covering connectivity, digital public administration, technological innovation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital skills and e-commerce.
The latest summit therefore highlights a growing focus in Côte d’Ivoire on moving AI from discussion and experimentation toward deployable solutions and economic opportunities.
